I find it amazing the change in people's attitudes and behaviors during the holiday season. I am not big on the commercialism, stress and over indulgence that takes place but I am thoroughly impressed with the way most people participate in the holidays. I
ndividuals let their guard down and allow themselves to make a conscious effort to enjoy the festivities. If we are lucky enough to have some children involved in our Christmas celebrations we catch ourselves letting our own childlike qualities run amok.
Children are excited about opening all the presents. They want to play and have fun. Their enthusiasm becomes infectious. Children are more concerned about enjoying themselves than anything else. Children help us to discover our own childlike innocence. We may grow old in years but that doesn't mean we have to grow old in spirit.
So the question I have for you is, "Why can we only be childlike at Christmas?" We can be playful and enthusiastic many more days throughout the year, not just during the holiday season. Be totally involved in the moment, forget about past problems, be loving and lovable, open minded and in awe of your world. I challenge you to be a kid all year not just at Christmas.
