Top 5 Things to Do to Ensure You Have Fun Filling Out Your Tax Forms This Year
- Set up a FUN environment: Gather all the info rmation you need to do fill out your tax forms. Then put music in the stereo which you enjoy. Get stickers which relate to your favourite hobby or pastime, and plaster them all over your "Working Copy".
- Have Defined Rewards Which Are Fun: Filling out your whole form takes a long time. Break it up into smaller chunks. Once you finish filling out the income section, do something fun. Once you finish the deductions section, have another reward. Repeat for finishing the entire working copy, and then for completing the good copy, and then again for mailing it.
- Have Random rewards which are fun: Get 20-30 of your favourite candies or small fruit. Pick a number between 0 and 9. Every time you write down that number (or enter it on the calculator -- or both), take a candy.
- Get the gang together: Misery loves company. I f you're having trouble getting your tax form filled out, find some other friends who are also miserable. Have a tax form party. I t's always easier doing someone else's work, so, if you don't mind having your friends know your current financial situation, swap tax forms. You do hers, and she does yours.
- Celebrate the losses: When you're filling out the income section, you can get disappointed that there's areas of your life you didn't make money. Similarly, you may get disappointed that there's some deductions that are eligible. Turn your disappointment into fun. I f you can't fill in a section of the form, let the world know. Yell out, " I can't claim pension plan income," or " I don't have any charitable donations this year to deduct."(This is added fun when combined with number 4, above.
